Staff Highlight - Hapakuki

Tongan rugby players in action — Oak Tree Devanning staff highlight featuring Hapakuki, who balanced container unloading work with international rugby.

Highlighting one of our awesome staff members! Earlier in the year, one of our team members was selected for the Tongan rugby squad for its July tests against Italy and Spain before they took on the Queensland Reds, with all three games being played in Tonga.

Hapakuki, based in Auckland, has been with Oak Tree since November 2023 and in the lead-up to his selection helped unload more than 250 containers in the mornings, so he could focus on rugby training in the afternoons and playing at weekends.

While the results didn’t go Tonga’s way, Kuki made his test debut against Italy, getting 30 minutes on the park.
